94 years! 1916 to 2010

1916 – On the 31st of May, Svenska Maskinskyltfabriken was founded by Axel Karlsson in Linköping.

1922 – The growing company moved to Oskarsgatan 3 adjacent to the city’s central train station. SMF had 12 employees.

1938 – SMF was established as an incorporation

1975 – the now 80-year old Axel Karlsson sold the company to Åke Bokegård and Yngve Pettersson who had carried on similar business in Eskilstuna.

1982 – The business moved to modern premises at Torvinge industrial park.

1987 – SMF was sold to Hans Johansson and Rolf Edmark.

1988 – Per Eriksson was hired as the company’s CEO

1995 – Ownership of SMF was transferred to Petter Ekwall who had been a member of SMF board since 1989.

2006 – Lars Rundbom was named CEO

2007 – Start-up of the new surface treatment facilities for aluminium.
